Biography

On August 25, 1998 in Washington DC the now 6’5 262 lb linebacker for the Chicago Bears, Terrell Lewis was born. Growing up in the DMV and being raised in a Guyanese household has shaped and molded T-Lew into the man he is today.  To see dreams become reality is every child’s dream.  Lewis is an absolute beast on the field and his stats are nothing short of impressive. As a senior at St. John’s College High School, Lewis recorded an incredible 42 tackles, 21 tackles for a loss, and nine sacks. With skills like that, it’s no surprise that he was named the Football Player of the Year for Washington, D.C. by USA Today and Gatorade. And to top it off, he even got invited to play in the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game!

But that’s not all – Lewis was also one of the most highly-rated recruits of his time, earning a five-star rating from Rivals.com and four stars from ESPN, Scout, and 247Sports. He was ranked as a top-ten weak side defensive end by all four rating agencies. During his junior year, he committed to playing college football at Ohio State! However, in a surprising move, Lewis de-committed from Ohio State just before his senior year. After weighing his options, he ultimately decided to play at the University of Alabama, turning down offers from Maryland, Florida State, and Mississippi.

But Lewis wasn’t done yet – far from it! He opted not to play in the Citrus Bowl and instead decided to enter the 2020 NFL Draft, forgoing his final year of NCAA eligibility. And with good reason – over the course of his collegiate career, Lewis racked up an impressive 58 tackles (14.5 for loss), eight sacks, three passes defended, and a forced fumble in 26 games played. It’s clear that this guy has a bright future ahead of him, and we can’t wait to see where his talents take him next!

College

From the moment Terrell stepped onto the field for the Crimson Tide as a freshman, it was clear that he was a force to be reckoned with. He played in 11 games, racking up 11 tackles and one sack! But just when things were starting to heat up for Lewis, he tore a ligament in the first game of his sophomore season against Florida State. That setback forced him to sit out the next ten games, but he came back with a vengeance for the final game of the regular season against Auburn. From there, he played in the postseason and even made his first career start in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship. All in all, he finished the season with 16 total tackles and a sack.

Unfortunately, Lewis’ junior season got off to a rocky start when he tore his ACL in summer training camp. That was a tough blow, but he used a medical redshirt to come back even stronger for his redshirt junior season. This time, he came out of the gate as a starting outside linebacker for Alabama, and he quickly made a name for himself. He was even named to the Butkus Award watchlist. Lewis finished the season with 31 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 6.0 sacks, 16 quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. And to cap it all off, he was named second team All-SEC.

“Today I met a long time Idol & Inspiration and was so shocked that I forgot to smile! Lol but I really want to thank @KobeBryant for coming to Bama and letting us pick his brain and receive his wisdom.”

NFL

After an impressive college career, Terrell Lewis was ready to take on the big leagues The Los Angeles Rams selected Lewis in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 84th overall pick, and fans were excited to see what he could do on the field. But before he could even get started, he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the team on July 31, 2020. Fortunately, he was activated on August 14, 2020 and ready to get back in the game.

But then, just a few weeks later, Lewis was placed on the reserve/non-football injury (NFI) list on September 9, 2020. That was definitely a setback, but he was determined to come back stronger than ever. And that’s exactly what he did – he was designated to return from the NFI list on October 1, and began practicing with the team again. Then, on October 10, he was finally activated and ready to make his NFL debut. And what a debut it was! Lewis played a key role in the Rams’ 30-10 win over the Washington Football Team on October 11, 2020.

But Lewis was just getting started. In Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks, he really made his mark on the league. He recorded his first two career sacks on none other than Russell Wilson during the Rams’ 23-16 win. That was definitely a moment to remember!

And the excitement didn’t stop there. Lewis and the Rams went on to win Super Bowl LVI when they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals. That was an incredible accomplishment for Lewis and the entire team – they really showed what they were made of.

On December 20, 2022, Lewis was signed to the Chicago Bears practice squad. On January 4, 2023, the Bears signed him to the active roster.
