Terrell Lewis broke Rob Gronkowski’s rib during a regular season game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in September 2021.
During the game, Lewis delivered a legal hit on Gronkowski, which unfortunately caused him to leave the game with a rib injury. According to Gronk he later was diagnosed with four cracked ribs, one broken rib and a punctured lung as a result of the big hit from linebacker Terrell Lewis, which he compared to feeling like “being shot” though he said he never has been. While injuries are never ideal, Lewis’ ability to make an impact against a veteran player like Gronkowski is certainly impressive and a testament to his potential as a pass rusher.
It’s worth noting that injuries are an unfortunate part of football, and while players never intend to cause harm to their opponents, they understand that it’s a physical and demanding sport. We certainly hope that Gronkowski has fully recovered from his injury and wish both him and Lewis continued success in their football careers.
